Ambassador Hermanns and Registrar Gomez-Jones deposited The Bahamas’ instrument of accession to the PTC with WIPO

The Permanent Mission of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva is pleased to announce that, on 19 May 2026, H.E. Patricia A. Hermanns, Permanent Representative of the Bahamas to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Permanent Representative of The Bahamas, together with Ms. Camille Gomez-Jones, Registrar General and Head of The Bahamas Intellectual Property Office, and Mr. Charles Gibson, Second Secretary to the Permanent Mission of The Bahamas to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, deposited the instrument of accession of The Bahamas to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The accession marks an important milestone in The Bahamas’ commitment to modernizing the national intellectual property framework, fostering innovation, and enhancing participation in the global intellectual property system. Through the PCT, inventors and businesses in The Bahamas will benefit from a streamlined process for seeking patent protection across multiple jurisdictions through a single international application.

The Bahamas joins a growing community of nations working to strengthen international cooperation in innovation and intellectual property.
